WHAT CAN I EAT IF I HAVE PANCREATITIS?

When acute pancreatitis is first diagnosed, patients are often admitted to the hospital for 2 - 5 days and are restricted to a clear liquid diet.
The pancreas, while inflamed, is essentially having difficulty getting the digestive enzymes to the stomach. They remain trapped inside the pancreas instead.
Once the condition begins to clear up (pain and tenderness in the abdomen have subsided) you should limit yourself to a low to fat free diet.
Some examples of foods that can be eaten include; fruits (avoid avocado), veggies, whole wheats, fish, chicken and eggs.
You do not eat  red meats and junk food, butter, margarine, oils, cheese, whole or 2% milk and mayonnaise
